FIRST

F.I.R.S.T.

Gladstone Robotics is a high school robotics team participating in a program called FIRST.FIRST was founded in New Hampshire, in 1989, by Dean Kamen. This program, which is broken into four divisions, assigns a new challenge each year for participants to create, design, build, and program robots of various sizes to perform the challenge. The four divisions of FIRST are JrFLL, FLL, FTC, and FRC. JrFLL and FLL divisions are designed to introduce children to engineering, math, and science while having fun. FTC and FRC are designed to let older children apply engineering, math, and science concepts to solving a challenge. FLL, FTC, and FRC involve the construction of various sized robots. For more information on these divisions, please click on the respective link below.

For ages 9-14. FIRST Lego League, or FLL, is a great way to warm kids up to mechanical and technical design. with help from a coach and one of the many mentors FIRST has the privilege to have, will help teach the students to build and program a robot made from LEGOs. it also helps kids understand the basics of programing and mechanical design. along with the great experience of a team, FLL also teaches other very important life skills.

For ages 14-18. First Tech Challenge is much like FRC, however its projects are a lot smaller. instead of building a 120lb. robot maybe you want to build a 60lb. robot. think ponder design build and program a robot that will solve each task that is put in front of them. every year there will be a new challenge in which you must build a new robot to beat said challenge.

For ages 14-18. FIRST robotics Competition is for High School students who want to make a career in engineering, Technical science, science, math, programing and so many more fields. it is a chance for teenagers to be in a team, and a family, setting while figuring out ways to solve problems and in the process learn a lot about the engineering, technology and other fields involved in robotics. every year this is a different challenge and you get 6 weeks to build a robot that will be of use in the challenge.
